“Marching On” was one of the first songs I wrote after the 2017 Sonoma County wildfires. Barely escaping alive and ultimately losing everything, I needed a space to make sense of all that was going on in my head - shock, heightened awareness of the brevity of life; fear, courage, and persistence.

“Marching On” represents resilience, the struggle, and richness of life, and hope. The addition of Lena Oneson (aka my dad) playing self-made percussion fashioned from burnt silverware and rusted tambourines salvaged from our property, made the recording experience that more poignant. It has been a pleasure to perform this song at the Out of the Fire benefit, which supports local musicians in need of musical instruments destroyed by the wildfires.
